Government Relations Office provides federal election guidance

The Government Relations Office is providing guidance for electoral candidates and the university community for the 2021 federal election.

This will assist safe engagement of students in the electoral process while maintaining the university’s role as a publicly-supported, non-partisan institution.

Candidates seeking to canvass voters in constituencies that are home to University of Toronto residences must follow policies designed to ensure the health and safety of students and the broader university community. These include the wearing of masks in indoor spaces, self-screening forms and completion of vaccination status attestation forms.

Residence administrators will facilitate access and timing for candidates to canvass students living in university housing. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the university is not accepting external space booking requests at this time.

The guidelines underline that U of T neither supports nor endorses any particular candidate or party at any level of government.
